I think the Marshal Plan and the Cuban Missile are mostly associated with the Cold War.
The Cold War. The Cuban missile crisis was a result of USSR aid putting long-range missiles onto Cuba, with the support of Fidel Castro. The Marshall Aid Plan was a US policy to aid countries being "plagued" by communism by giving them money for support. Both situations raised USSR/USA tensions - the Marshall Plan effectively starting the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis occuring in the midst of it.
